Yesterday, I received a consultation about a pull-wire displacement sensor. The model is CEW65M-01983, a pull-wire with a travel range of 20 meters.
This encoder is not complicated; it is an encoder with a resolution of 4096*4096 using the Profibus-DP communication protocol, with a shaft diameter of 6mm. As a pull-wire displacement sensor, the application size of the encoder part is not particularly important, as long as it matches the pull-wire traction mechanism.
Thus, we have a greater space for custom replacement.
We base our replacement plan on the pull-wire traction mechanism. This is a traction mechanism with a travel range of 20 meters, model number SL3020-X1/GS130.
Fortunately, our pull-wire traction mechanism has a 1:1 corresponding size, and as long as we solve the encoder part, it will be fine. The original model used an encoder from the 65mm series, and we are using an encoder with an outer diameter of 58mm, which can also match the traction mechanism. As long as the pull-wire traction mechanism can be installed and matched, that's all that matters.
In this way, we have perfectly replaced this pull-wire displacement sensor. From now on, there is no need to worry about spare parts procurement issues.
In fact, encoders with the Profibus-DP communication protocol generally have a large market demand for spare parts. Many are discontinued models, and spare parts are not available. This is the type of consultation we receive the most.
Generally, we will provide a custom replacement plan. Although the quantity is not large, we will take the time to do it for the customer to be able to use it normally. As long as we are not in a particularly difficult situation, we will try to help everyone customize some non-standard sizes.
